NYC

We took a day-trip to NYC. The weather was perfect for walking around: sunny but not too hot.

In Central Park, there were two musicians. The combination of accoustic guitar and violin was a little strange, but it worked very well, and both were very good. It was very pleasant to sit there and listen for a bit. They did an excellent job with "With or Without You".

Spring comes earlier in NYC than it does here...

Rails to Trails

We took a little bike ride on the "Rails to Trails" today, between Bolton and Manchester.

Essentially, it used to be a train track, and was eventually converted to a trail usable for walking, cycling, cross-country skiing, etc. The nice part about it is that it has very gentle grades, since it was made for trains. This makes it a lot more pleasant that the steep uphills around our house!

Don't try this at home!

Purple flowers

We get all these tiny purple flowers on the lawn. They seem to be spreading, compared to last year. (maybe next year will be even more)

Tzaziki!!

Roxi found some "Authentic Greek Yogurt" today, the final ingredient for home-made tzaziki sauce.

Here it is, sitting with some other ingredients:

1 1/2 cucumbers were grated and drained.

The recipe called for 3 cloves of garlic, so we naturally used 6.

A little salt, a little mint, and voilá!

Full recipe:
500mg of yogurt
1 cucumber (1.5 was too much)
6 (or more) cloves of garlic
1 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of fresh mint

Instructions:

1) Just mix it all together. (only thing is to be careful to drain the cucumber to avoid the tzaziki being too liquid).

2) Chill, and eat with bread or chips, and your favourite beer.

3) Let your dog lick the yogurt container:

Squirrel

We had a little visitor yesterday, at our "bird" feeder. He was not shy in front of the camera, but he kept a close eye on us (and on Barkly).

WCC2006

A big event: the World Curling Championship of 2006 is taking place just outside of Boston. Sue, Andrew and Ricardo went to watch the opening game for Canada (a win against a good Sweden team).

The place: Tsongas arena, in Lowell, Mass.

Inside Tsongas. Canada is playing Sweden on the sheet on the left.

Great Swedish fans: yelling, singing, and having a good time.

Swede shot.

Canadian lead, Maxime Elmaleh, watching the stone.

Sweden third, Niklas Edin.

Canadian third, François Roberge.

After the game, Roxi came to join the gang, in Worcester, for lunch.
