Picture for Buca

Buca (Roxi's mom) has made some really nice hats for Julia. This is the latest one.

Another bath

Sunday mornings are pretty relaxed at our house. Julia and Ricardo usually take a bath togehter. Julia has so much fun, she doesn't want to get out.

Wow, is that a funnel on the tip of my finger?

Ricardo put the funnel on Julia's head, but I missed getting a shot of it, I took a picture a second too late. She's still cute though, so I included it anyway.

Whoa, what is that Papa's head?

She's been saying "Papa funny!"

She looks more and more like a big girl now:

Pictures from the weekend

Since the weather here was sunny and warm, we decided to head North for the 8-foot snowbanks and sub-freezing weather for the weekend.

The King and Queen of the house.

Granpa Gordon with Benjamin.

Julia getting lots of attention.

Julia showing Benjamin her piano skills (push the buttons and noise comes out). Banjamin was busy pointing at a picture of Gilles.

The cousins, jamming.

Vitamin C.

carrot cake

A few days ago, Sena casually reminded me that she really likes carrot cake. And then she asked when was the last time I made carrot cake, and if I might make it again soon. She is very subtle in her way...

Julia loves to help her mama cook, it's her favorite pass-time (better than playing with her toys or reading books). So Julia and I made some carrot cake this weekend. (For those of you who follow this blog, this is the sequel to the "cookies" posting from last week.)

1. Choose a few nice-looking carrots to grate:

2. Add some flour and eggs:

3. Put in some raisins, nuts and chocolate chips:

4. Mix, mix, mix (a little messy, but it's Julia's favorite part):

5. Put it in a baking dish:

6. Resisting the temptation to eat the cream cheese used to make the frosting:

7. All done:

crayons & stickers

Julia loves drawing with her crayons and playing with stickers. Here she is very focused on her latest work of art.

Cookies

Making cookies:

1. Take out the butter

2. Eat the butter

3. Wait for some inspiration

4. Toss in some nuts

5. Stir, stir, stir (or as Julia says, "Tir, tir, tir")

6. Voila!!! Cookies!

Flood and Farm

We had a ton of rain Friday and Saturday, which resulted in our intended hiking trail to be flooded. This is just downstream of Eagleville Dam:

We instead went to the UConn farm, got some eggs, and showed Julia the animals (again).

Woohoooo!

It was windy and cold (+2°C), but Julia refused to wear gloves.

Fancy long hair.

Peekaboo!

Julia kept saying: "horsy... pet... horsy... pet"

Friendly old guy:

Too Many Pictures...

...but, like Roxana says, you don't have to look at all of them.

Julia slept in until past 10 this morning (even though she went to sleep at 8:30 last night)... It's late afternoon now and she's having a nap, been asleep for 2.5 hours so far. So it's been a very relaxing day for all of us. Outside it's been raining hard all day, and windy, and 15 deg. C.

Followed by a bath, with papa, some ducks, two measuring cups, and a funnel.

(last one was after getting water dumped on her head to rinse the shampoo)

Julia just woke up... make that a 3.5 hour nap!!!!

PS: muitos parabems a tia Sao e ao tio Ze!
