Julia Today

Girls on a Tractor

Uncle Ed, taking the girls for a little ride this afternoon.

You can't fake this kind of emotion....

Afterwards, relaxing on a swing.

Fire in the Hole in the Wall

We were invited to a bonfire yesterday, near friends' houses. They happen to live at the Hole in the Wall camp, in Ashford. Besides working for such a great cause (read up on it if you haven't already), our friends also get to occasionally use the facilities. This place is amazing. We only went to a small area of it.

This is the view of the lake.
(by the way, Mariana made that little sweater-vest -- it fits like a glove. When Marcia asked her who made it, she said 'Doctor Fufu', which had to be explained)

Julia got her face painted...

...a butterfly.

Oh, by the way, there was an enormous teepee for the kids to play.

We roasted marshmallows and apples, and had a great time.

Gretchen & Armond

We drove from the campground to a park in CT, about 45 minutes East of here, for a wedding. We know Gretchen from when Roxy had an appartment in Ashford.

They chose a beautiful park, by a lake. Armond and his brother were in full Scottish attire.

This is a small portion of the guets, waiting for the ceremony to start (the rest of the guests were waiting in the shade).

The bride walking down.

The best part of the wedding: two friends of the bride and groom, came from New Hampshire, and performed a great rendition of "The Owl and the Pussycat", inlcuding animal sounds. Very nicely done!

The ceremony, with kayakers in the background.

Afterwards, we walked around the park.

Savoy & Greylock

We took advantage of a long weekend and beautiful weather to spend a couple of days at Savoy Mountain State Forest, and Mount Greylock, both in NW Mass.

Walking around the campground.

One of many chipmunks, aparently not very afraid of us.

Near-full moon that night, from the restaurant (yes, we have dinner at restaurants when camping!).

The next morning, at the lake.

We then drove 45min West to Mt Greylock (the highest peak in Mass.).

On the "Overlook Trail", unfortunately not a very well-named trail.
