1

You might know that Julia turned 1 a few days ago. Time really does fly. Seems like just yesterday she was sleeping all the time. Now we can't leave her alone for 1 minute... nor would we want to, of course. :)

Here's the little birthday girl:

Joanna, Luc and Julia's friend Julietta came over, with party hats.

Julietta barely slowed down enough for this photo...

Peachy

Julia is still loving fruits of all kinds.

Here she is, enjoying a peach:

5 minutes later... (note the peach in the hair). Some of it also got into her ear.

And after being hosed off:

Peabody

Today we went to New Haven to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibit at the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History. It's a photo competition, with 94 of the best photos displayed (there are several categories, and they showed the winners, runners-up, honorable mentions, etc). Some of the images were stunning. Others were a little more depressing, but no less spectacular.

Julia was excited and squealed a lot.

It was a beautiful day, so we didn't spend too much time indoors at the museum. We walked around New Haven, and ate lunch in one of the many Yale University courtyards.

And once again, when we got back home, our new friend was hanging around our vegetable garden. This time he pretended he was eating grass. To be fair, we haven't seen the little guy actually eat anything from our garden, but it seems odd that he spends so much time near it...

Girls in a Kayak

Last weekend, we spent a few hours at/in the lake with Joanna, Luc and Julietta. The girls were playing around the Kayak. We put them in it and, like Joanna wrote, they look like they're going on an adventure!

Thanks to Joanna and Luc for a very nice time, and for the pictures.

Julia Walking

As we mentioned before, Julia started taking a few steps lately. Tonight she was nice enough to let us record this.

Beautiful Weekend

A great weekend. The weather was not as hot & humid as we expected, but was instead very pleasant. Gabi and Carlos came for a visit, and were lucky enough to witness Julia's first few steps. She was holding toys in her hands, and didn't want to put them down - so she decided to take a few small steps instead of trying to crawl. Later during the weekend, she took a few steps on another few occasions soon after the first time. Crawling is still a much faster way to get around, but now she knows that she can walk too...

Here she is, pointing out a subtle detail about "her" dinosaur to avó Gabi.

And here, showing Avô Carlos how John Shaw uses wide apertures to blur the background.

And here, enjoying the little pool (Joyce, thanks so much!) and the freedom of being naked.

We then spent a very pleasant Sunday afternoon by the lake with Joanna, Luc and Julietta. Thanks!

Hope everybody is doing well. We're very glad that Zoe is back in a safe place.
