Cherries

Julia and I went cherry-picking today. There's a farm not too far away which has pick-your-own cherries (Belltown Farm in S. Glastonbury), so we decided to try it for the first time this year. It was amazing, we picked 20 pounds in about an hour, and they are delicious! There were many trees of different varieties of cherries, some sweet, some tart, some yellow. We found one tree which had lots of Bing cherries (juicy and sweet) and picked enough cherries from this one tree to fill two big buckets. We're planning to go back on Thursday to get some more. For those of you wondering what we're doing with all these cherries, I figure we'll eat as many as we can fresh, share with our friends and family, and freeze a few for the winter. The cherry season is rather short, so I really hope to be able to pick some more before the end.
